This week’s #buildingdoodle sketch is by architect Owen O’Carroll at urbanX

The sketch depicts the Jantar Mantar at Jaipur, India. Built as an astronomical observatory, its construction relied heavily on mathematical thinking, as it was used to measure the stars. Owen said: “Considering it was built in the 16-1700s, the sophistication of the artistic decoration was particularly impressive, and to a level that was very much ahead of what existed in Europe during the same period.”
