This week’s #buildingdoodle sketch is by Waugh Thistleton Architects.
They say: “This is a concept drawing for our extension of the Bushey Cemetery, which won the religion category at the World Architecture Festival last week. The site is in the green belt and is the most significant Jewish cemetery in the UK, so we had to create an understated yet impactful space.
“We used rammed earth as the main building material to create a strong connection to the cyclical nature of life and death, while addressing the sensitivity of the site.”
