Sketch of the week: Battle, East Sussex

This week’s #buildingdoodle sketch is by Mette McLarney, director at Bluepencil Designs. It was one of several sketches McLarney did of Battle, East Sussex, as part of the background analysis of the town for a residential masterplan nearby.

She says, of the town named after the Battle of Hastings, which occurred 950 years ago this month: “The market square has a very special atmosphere. It is an intimate space, relaxed and very pretty. It is a working town, not simply a gentrified tourist attraction, and this is what gives it its character.”
