Whitegoods has supplied integrated lighting for this modern cricket pavilion designed by architect John Pawson, for St Edward’s School in Oxford
The minimalist design uses the “edgeless cove” system to deliver a continuous seam of light between the wall and ceiling providing a focal point to the back wall of the main room without compromising the line of the ceilings.
The room itself is lit with the firm’s plaster-in downlights, specified for their minimal visual impact. A piece of frosted glass is suspended flush with the ceiling line, apparently without fixings, and with no trim or bezel. The down lights were low energy compact fluorescent units, which are dimmable. Several also incorporate emergency lighting capability.
