The striking shell of the Le Safron festival hall, south-east of Paris, has been clad in the new copper aluminium alloy Tecu Gold.

The hall, which will act as a venue for concerts and festivals, is clad in 900mm x 900mm shingles that are fixed to thin wood planking and vertical rafters in the traditional fashion. According to manufacturer KME, the cladding is easy to work, like natural copper. The material is resistant to mechanical abrasion and corrosion and has good strength and material stiffness. The golden yellow surface undergoes characteristic changes when exposed to the elements, the original matting produces a soft, light yellow colour, evolving over time into a darker yellow, closer to that of saffron.
