British Gypsum has introduced a hybrid version of its GypWall Extreme partition system for applications that need one side of the wall to perform beyond the BS5234 “Severe Duty” rating.
The GypWall Extreme/Robust comprises a Gypframe metal stud core faced to one side with the company’s latest impact-resistant Glasroc Rigidur H high-density fibre board, and to the reverse with 15mm Gyproc DuraLine board. The company says the hybrid is a cheaper alternative to standard blockwork or existing fibreboard-based systems which enables additional performance, and cost, to be applied only where it is needed.
According to the company, the impact-resistant side withstands a range of common accidental and deliberate impacts such as kicking, glancing blows from trolleys and scratch damage through continued rubbing of furniture. The Gyproc DuraLine face also meets BS 5234 Severe Duty in a single layer, for day-to-day traffic.
