Fujitsu General has introduced the AGYV, a split air-conditioning unit that it says is designed to fit unobtrusively into homes in general, and conservatories in particular.

It measures 660 × 740 × 200mm, is mounted on an external wall and comes in 2.6kW, 3.5kW and 4.2kW versions. The company says all these have AA ratings for energy efficiency and can emit a sound level as low as 22dB. The unit is fitted with two fans; both operate at start-up, but once the room has reached the desired temperature, the unit operates on the top one alone. Fujitsu says it is easy to keep the unit clean, as it has a removable, washable filter to catch dust, mould spores and micro-organisms, and an ion filter to remove odours. It can be controlled by a remote control or a wired control that includes a seven-day timer. It can be placed in cooling mode when the outside temperature is between –10ºC and 43ºC, and in heating mode when it is between –15ºC and 24ºC.
