British Gypsum has introduced a ceiling lining board that it says combines high levels of thermal insulation with 30 minutes’ fire resistance.
Developed in conjunction with housebuilder Taylor Wimpey, the lining board has been developed to satisfy the fire performance requirements for ceiling membranes in “room-in-the-roof” constructions. The 55mm board is a laminate of 15mm Gyproc FireLine, a fire-resistant plasterboard, and 40mm high-performance phenolic foam. It includes an integral vapour control layer to prevent condensation in the roof, and can be used in combination with Isover glass wool insulation, which British Gypsum says achieves a U-value as low as 0.19 W/m2K in standard 175 × 47mm timber rafter constructions.
