This two-and-a-half storey development has a style and massing that is appropriate to its environment. The brickwork displays a wide variety of features including camber and three-centre arches, corbelled castellation details, dentil courses and contrasting decorative features. In the wrong hands, these could have ended up as botched details. As it was, the judges remarked that there was obviously an excellent gang of bricklayers to hand with all the work carried out in situ. The joint finish is excellent and the setting out very accurate. All in all, this project was hard to fault.
