Hager’s new consumer unit is ahead of the game when it comes to easy installation.

Hager has developed the UK’s first installer-friendly consumer unit. The company invested £1 million into the product, which is both faster and simpler to fit than other units.

It has a removable top wall that reseals itself when replaced, so there is no need to thread needles through knockouts. The cable entries are simply snapped off using a pair of pliers, which saves time and makes the installation less hazardous, as there is less chance of injury from a knife or jagged edges. Replacing the top wall reseals the unit to IP4x, thanks to a rubber seal which removes the need for gromits.

Flexible fixing points mean that it can be mounted on uneven walls with minimum visible distortion. These are angled to allow alignment using the factory fitted spirit level within the consumer unit. Multiple fixing points ensure concealed cables behind the unit can easily be avoided.

The new range has more space between the devices and terminal bars than other products, and the neutral and earth bars are aligned with the devices at the top of the board for easy access. In addition, there are no restrictions under the DIN rail to obstruct cable runs.
