First Security has been AWARDED THE EXTERNAL SECURITY contract to protect the St Pancras site of the British Library, home to some of the nation’s most treasured possessions – including the world famous Magna Carta. The site’s two entrance and exit gates are secured on a 24-hour basis, seven days per week by a three-strong officer team during the day, with lone working at night.
During the day, First’s officers are responsible for managing access control through the two gates and carrying out all of the required vehicle searches. Once the building closes for the day, the night shift officer then patrols the external perimeter of the site.
The British Library’s National Newspapers Archive is based at Colindale, and there are further buildings at Micawber Street and in Woolwich. First provides key holding services for these premises.
