A new fire glass flooring product has been supplied by Firman Glass for a new walkway at a York college.

Firminfloor was developed by Firman Glass and CGI International, manufacturer of fire glass solutions. It combines a 30 minute integrity fire rating with a 5 kilonewton per metre squared loading threshold.

The walkway connects the main building with a new assembly hall at Queen Ethelburga’s College. Firman Glass designed and installed the 31m long by 7m wide structure, which is constructed from 1m2 panels of Firminfloor. Each steel-framed panel consists of 11.4mm CGI Pyroguard fire resistant glass, sandwiched between 12mm toughened float glass and a top layer of 15mm sandblasted glass. The panels are laminated together using cold-pore resin interlayer.
