Gent has provided its own solution to the problem of inmates triggering nuisance fire alarms within prisons.
The company took an existing product, the S-Quad dual angle optical heat with CO sensor, and conducted a series of experiments whereby the sensor was tailored for use within individual prison cell ventilation ducts. It met with Home Office approval after proving capable of identifying in which room a fire had started, allowing faster response times for incidents.
The S-Quad’s multi-criteria sensing techniques minimise false alarms, and the product is effective at ignoring cigarette smoke for longer-than-average periods. It also houses strobe, sounder and voice alerts.
