Situated on the beautiful Sandbanks Peninsula, overlooking Poole Harbour, a new Mirage development consisting of 28 apartments has been developed and built by Gleesons Homes Ltd. The interiors have been finished to a very high standard and include individually designed kitchens, low voltage down lighters and Siemens Integrated Home Management Systems.

Project Manager Lawrence Foote and Partners contacted Mann McGowan as eight of the apartments required 30 minute fire separation between the living room and hall area. However, they specifically asked that this fire separation was not to be obtrusive, so the company asked Mann McGowan to quote for its Pyrovista 30 system with its timber framed glazed screens incorporating Firestile 30 fully glazed fire resisting doors.

The screens varied in size from 1.85 metres wide up to 3.00 metres wide by 2.02 metres in height.

All fire doors have to be self closing, but the client did not want surface mounted closing devices, so Mann McGowan suggesting using Dorma ITS cam-action concealed door closers, mounted into the top rail of the doors.

All the screens and doors were glazed with 6mm thick clear glass. The glass and bead interface was filled using Mann McGowan Pyroglaze 30 Intumescent seals. This specification provides 30 minutes integrity in accordance with BS 476 Part 22 1987 and both glass types are Class A safety products as defined in BS 6206.

All the other intumescent products used within the system which included Pyrostrip Flexifin door seals. Pyrohinge gaskets and Pyromas sealant were also manufactured by Mann McGowan. The intumescent seals, closers, hinges and glass all have Certifire third party accreditation.
