Work on the £250m Chatham Place in Reading is due to start in spring 2006. The first phase of the regeneration scheme, headed by Amec Developments and Reading Borough Council, has now received planning approval and will cost £45m.
The project will provide 211 apartments for sale, 96 affordable homes and a multi-storey car park .
The project team includes highway consultant Peter Brett Associates, cost consultant Faithful & Gould and client representative Rose Project Services. The second phase will create a new public square at the centre of the development by decking over a dual carriageway that divides the town centre. The team also includes Cartwright Pickard Architects.
