CIRIA has published a review on the implications of climate change, along with practical guidance on assessing and managing the associated risks, such as ground movement, rain penetration and wind loading.

The guide is aimed at construction clients (in the private and public sectors), engineers, contractors and other groups who will benefit from up to date information on the implications of climate change. Typical risks include delay to construction programmes, mould growth in dwellings, damage to the building envelope – such as cladding – and effects on roof drainage.

According to CIRIA there is little evidence that UK construction companies are implementing or considering adaptation strategies or mitigation measures to to reduce these impacts. You’ve been warned.
