Independent access hire company Facelift Access Hire – which provides cherry pickers for CCTV installers – has taken part in the charity event 'Paddle Around the Pier Brighton' in aid of The Rocking Horse Appeal, RNLI and Surf Aid.

Each company taking part in the event builds a raft which represents their business and paddles it around Brighton's West Pier. Facelift was initially approached to provide a cherry picker for the day, and decided to enter themselves. Facelift's 'cherry picker' raft was built by welding together a number of steel barrels to become two buoyant 'hulls'.

These were then joined by an aluminium frame from which an 'articulated boom' was mounted. The 'barrelpicker' took four weeks to build, and the four man crew took out first place in the event, with a presentation from Norman Cook, aka Fatboy Slim.
