Faber Maunsell is to provide the civil, structural and building services engineering design for the £58m Easter Bush Research Centre in Midlothian.
The new centre will bring together scientists and support staff from The Roslin Institute and the Scottish Agricultural College.
The building was designed by HDR CUH2A and will be shaped to resemble a pair of chromosomes, and is due for completion in 2011.
The building is aiming for a BREEAM Very Good rating, and will feature modular lab spaces with cascade ventilation systems for economic running costs and naturally ventilated offices using stack effect ventilation through ventilation towers.
