Faber Maunsell | AECOM has been commissioned to head Target Zero, a three-year project that will provide guidance on how to design zero-carbon buildings
The £1m initiative, funded by Corus and the British Constructional Steelwork Association (BCSA), will offer guidance on five building types: schools, warehouses, offices, supermarkets and mixed-use.
Faber Maunsell | AECOM will generate fully costed solutions for each sector, demonstrating how to achieve the three highest BREEAM ratings and meet changes to Part L. Cyril Sweett will assist as cost consultant.
The first report, on schools, will be issued this summer and the other reports will follow at three-month intervals.
Alan Todd, general manager of Corus Construction Services and Development, said: “The schools study has already identified potential annual energy savings of £165m nationally, equivalent to £22 per pupil.”
