Fire Engineering Associates, based in Manchester, has been awarded an out-of-court settlement in excess of £250 000 against a director who resigned and transferred projects worth more than £500 000 to his new business interests.

The settlement, against Ian Andrew Moore of West Yorkshire, who left after taking multiple future contracts for underground car-park ventilation systems, includes assessed profit and legal costs.

It is the end of a three-and-a-half year dispute for FEA, which employed Moore as marketing director from 1997 to 2004.

He admitted liability in July 2006. A forensic accountant then determined FEA’s actual loss of profit at £197 000.

FEA director David Fenlon said: “The exceptional amount of time spent on accountancy and legal issues has had a big impact on the company and me personally, as we were friends as well as business partners.”
