BSj, as the voice of CIBSE, is committed to sustainable building design with many excellent articles.
Yet, I am invariably disappointed when I get to the end of the featured building each month to find there is no information provided as to the predicted energy consumption or carbon emissions.

Particularly when the building is claimed to be 'low energy', I would have thought that this information would be available. In any event, the building regulations now require predicted energy consumption to be entered into the building log book.

Can I suggest that in future all featured buildings contain information on predicted energy consumption and carbon emissions. Then the reader will be able to make his/her own judgement as to the environmental performance.

Editor’s reply:

We always ask for predicted energy use figures, but unfortunately they’re rarely supplied. Disappointingly few clients set this kind of target; or don’t want to reveal what the projections are for fear that the building doesn’t perform as expected. However, we will continue to endeavour to collect the information!
