Rapid response

Friedland has extended the capability of its Response security range with the introduction of a wireless smoke alarm. The unit allows users to monitor activations from their Friedland Response control panels and will also work as a stand-alone alarm.

The product is made up of two components – the smoke alarm unit and a wireless alarm interface module that relays signals to the control panel.

The alarm responds to all types of fire using the optical principle to detect smoke and emits an 85 dB(A) warning to alert occupants to any potential hazard.

A low-battery indicator and test button allow users to monitor the operational status of the system, which should be checked on a weekly basis.

Installation of the compact alarm interface module, which features tamper protection, is quick and easy.

Scene setting

MK is truly putting the end user in the driving seat when it comes to lighting, with the launch of its new digital scene control system.

Aspect DSC has been specifically designed as an ‘out of the box, onto the wall’ product, allowing for rapid installation.

The system will work with most current lamp types including incandescent, mains voltage halogen and low voltage halogen lamps powered by an electronic transformer.

A number of features make it very contractor-friendly. Firstly, MK claims that Aspect DSC is the only product in the market that fits into a standard UK 47 mm back box. Many other mainstream products are much deeper, and in some cases physically larger. Secondly, the system is ideal for retrospective fitting, as there is no need for a neutral connection. The majority of lighting circuits wired as a spur do not have a neutral available, making rewiring a necessity.

For the user it is a simple and stylish way to control lighting. Operated by infra-red remote control, it can control up to four independent circuits of lighting and can be quickly programmed to store any combination of light levels in four “scenes”. There is even a holiday mode to replicate normal daily lighting patterns.
