Atkins, Dalkia and Alfred McAlpine Business Services are among the eight companies shortlisted as part of the tender process for making the Greater London Authority’s buildings more energy efficient.

Up to 100 buildings will be tackled in the first stage of the initiative, including the premises of the Metropolitan Police, Transport for London and the Fire and Emergency Planning Authority.

The work will involve auditing the buildings to assess the most suitable energy efficiency measures and project-managing their installation.

The successful firm will have to guarantee to meet an energy-saving target over an agreed period. The other shortlisted companies are EDF Energy, Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Siemens and TAC/ Schneider. The winner will be announced in January.
