EIC has started work on its largest m&e project to date at Stockwell Park High School in Lambeth, south London.

The design-and-build contract is worth £6.2 million.

The overall Building Schools for the Future scheme will cost £28 million and include an amphitheatre, gardens and a sensory area for children with special needs.

It has received an ‘excellent’ rating from the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE).

Electrical services installation will include main switchgear, electrical distribution system and small power. EIC will also be responsible for lighting and window control, public address and fire alarm systems, data communications and IT.

The mechanical fit-out will incorporate low-temperature hot water heating, ventilation, dx cooling, automatic controls and drainage. Work is due to be completed by November 2010.

Nigel Le Marechal, joint managing director of EIC, says: “This project is huge for EIC because it has been secured in our 35th year of operation, it is in a sector in which we are building a strong reputation and it has been awarded by one of our long-term construction partners, Willmott Dixon.”
