Powerplan has launched eco2power, a new energy-saving desk module specifically designed for the office.

Eco2power comes suited for computer users with a six-power-socket desk system and a software-operating download.

A USB connection enables the desk power system to monitor when the mouse and keyboard are not being used.

The software allows the user to activate the standby mode of the computer and set a standby time lapse setting that will dictate when the central processing unit goes into standby mode.

Once the user leaves the desk, the pre-set timelapse for standby and for shutdown of the five peripheral equipment sockets begins.

The programme includes a graphic user interface, which allows the user to view cumulative and ongoing savings.

Payback is estimated at less than two years, with an average saving of one quarter of a tonne in CO2 production per desk per year.
