The ECA has received funding of £30 000 from the Carbon Trust as part of its Networks Initiative, which encourages UK businesses to cut their CO2 emissions.

The ECA is running a series of workshops across the country from July to November, aimed at helping firms reduce energy usage and cut carbon emissions through energy efficient lighting systems.

The workshops are designed for both electrical contractors and clients or specifiers who are looking to install energy efficient systems in buildings.

Iain Macdonald, head of education and training at the ECA explained: “Our new energy efficient lighting workshops will help members and others employ the best, most up-to-date advice and techniques, so their customers can reap the benefits of low energy lighting.”

Tom Delay, chief executive of the Carbon Trust commented: “Trade bodies are valuable partners for the Carbon Trust and our work with them over the past two years has contributed to savings of some 200 000 tonnes of CO2. We believe the ECA will play an important role in the continuation of this success and that the workshops demonstrate a very practical way of helping businesses reduce emissions.”
