EC Harris is to be cost consultant on English Partnerships’ planned regeneration of Liverpool's Lime Street Gateway
English Partnerships is also working with preferred development partner Liverpool-based Iliad, urban regeneration company Liverpool Vision, Network Rail, Liverpool City Council and Merseytravel.
A detailed planning application, including the creation of a new public space at the front of the station featuring a mixed-use building housing cafes and shops, has been sent to Liverpool City Council. Work is due to start in early 2006 and finish at the end of 2007.
Jim Gill, chief executive of Liverpool Vision, said the scheme should become a “focal point for the city and act as a catalyst to wider regeneration of the Lime Street area”.
English Partnerships is still negotiating vacant possession with tenants of the Concourse Tower and a row of shops, which are to be demolished.
Work will have to fit around separate roadworks, scheduled to take place concurrently, but the train station will remain fully operational throughout.
