EC Harris has unveiled phase two of the development of Aintree racecourse. The firm's Liverpool office is project manager and planning supervisor on the £30m job, which is due to last two years. The scheme includes two five-tier grandstands.
Phase two is set to start in April after the John Smith's Grand National and is due to be completed by February 2007 in time for next year's 160th race meeting. Phase one, started in May 2005 and recently completed, comprised a new weighing room, an enlarged parade ring and new stables. The scheme has been designed by Building Design Partnership and finance for the project was provided by the racecourse itself, the Horseracing Betting Levy Board plus European and regional funding schemes.
