Level 2 certificate provides technical knowledge needed for Competent Persons Schemes
EAL has updated its Certificate for Domestic Electrical Installers.
The new version supports training providers in delivering the technical knowledge required for Part P Competent Persons Schemes. EAL’s Level 2 certificate is supported by the ECA.
The qualification is suitable for anyone carrying out electrical work under the scope of Part P, including kitchen and gas fitters.
Successful candidates will gain the technical knowledge to be nominated as a ‘qualified supervisor’.
The new version includes:
- New regulations – the certificate now interprets the relevant sections of the 17th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations (BS7671: 2008) for domestic electrical installers;
- New structure – nine units make the original materials easier to interpret and use to deliver training;
- New assessments – a choice of multiple-choice question papers give centres more flexibility when conducting exams.
Iain Macdonald, head of education and training at the ECA, said: “This qualification can be taken in its entirety or in separate modules. Those already proficient in the competencies can go straight to the final assessment for each module to achieve the VRQ and gain the full certificate.”
The revised qualification is available for candidates to register through EAL-approved centres across the country.
