Digital recording equipment supplied by Neurodynamics will shortly be used by Kingston upon Hull City Council as part of what's likely to become the largest civil CCTV system throughout Europe.

    Installed by Optilan to client specifications prepared by consultant WS Atkins, the £10 million project is now in its final commissioning stages. The scheme covers the entire Hull city centre, including shopping malls, public space areas and car parks as well as arterial roads and the marina.

    The project involves the installation of 235 new cameras, all integrated with 40 existing city centre cameras and six existing remote sites. A duct and fibre system provides the circuits from cameras to the communications room. All images will be observed from the central Control Room located in Festival Hall.

    Entry level for Neurodynamics' Witness DVRs is the Compact range, which will accommodate up to 120 camera inputs. The units support drivers for most commercially-available telemetry, the protocols being in place with complementary equipment from major brands.
