The main players in the intruder alarm industry have reached a decision on how to approach the imminent introduction of EN 50131-1.
The BSIA, ABI, NSI and SSAIB have announced their intention to work towards dual running of BS 4737 and the revised EN 50131-1 in order to minimise cost and disruption to manufacturers, installers and end-users. This means BS4737 will be able to be used for a limited period after September 2003.
The proposal has been agreed by the Association of Chief Police Officers in England and Scotland.
BSIA technical manager, Alex Carmichael said the agreement had strengthened the sector and paved the way for EN 50131-1 to have a much more positive impact.
