A casual observer might be distressed to see that workmen had left their concrete mixer lying around outside a new bar at the Hayward Gallery, part of London’s Southbank Centre.

But, dear reader, this is not a concrete mixer. It is an objet d’art, created by artist David Batchelor to celebrate the opening of the bar, which is called Concrete, and echoing the theme of the Southbank Centre itself (it’s a huge 1960s concrete thing for those that don’t know). Clever, eh?
