International consensus on the requirements for professional engineers is moving closer. And the UK is at the head of these developments.
At a week-long series of international meetings in New Zealand in June, EC(UK) won clear statements from 21 countries on what concessions were given to incoming graduates and engineers.

These statements highlighted that UK engineers are in a good position to gain many benefits in most of the countries.

This meeting was attended by David Long, chairman of the EC(UK) international advisory panel and Jim Birch, head of international recognition EC(UK). Now it has got the issue into the open, EC(UK) plans to push forward further accord before the next meeting in Hong Kong in 2005.

Outcome from the international meetings will be fed back by delegates into the UK Spec debate.
