It is pleasing to see that the government has identified the need to ensure that communities are diverse.

This pilot should also include the building of stronger, safer as well as thriving communities. Lessons need to be learned on the reasons why communities become deprived. There is a clear need for services and agencies to work in a joined-up manner to achieve sustainability of communities. Communities should not be expected to bear the brunt of negative social engineering, such as asylum seekers being placed in inner-city communities that already have overstretched resources and services.
