BSI British Standards has published a revised version of the code of practice for daylighting in buildings.
The newly revised BS 8206-2:2008 Lighting for Buildings Code of Practice for daylighting gives recommendations regarding the design for daylight in buildings. It includes recommendations on the design of electric lighting when used in conjunction with daylight.
Daylighting design needs to be integrated into the design process; it is not a technology that can be installed once a building is complete. The new code of practice provides guidance to architects, engineers and others involved in lighting design.
The 2008 revision includes a new annexe on climate-based daylight modelling along with information on how daylighting can impact on health.
