10:55AM Senior partner Rob Smith says firm has teamed up with Carbon Trust to rethink its own energy usage and travel
Davis Langdon has pledged to go carbon neutral as a firm. Senior partner Rob Smith said the firm had hit on the plan at a recent partners event in Seville.
Smith said the firm was working closely with the Carbon Trust on the plan. “We have people seconded there so know them well,” he said.
He said the firm was carrying out an audit of its current carbon footprint before deciding in a plan to reduce it. He added that the firm would have to offset its carbon usage to start with. “We are going to have to plant trees somewhere in the short term. To organise a total regime it will take a year.”
Smith said the firm would need to look at energy usage in their offices, the use of flights and taxis as well as using tele- and video conferencing instead of travelling. “The response from staff has been great. Since I announced it to the staff in the London office I’ve received a lot of emails from staff with ideas to reduce our usage.”
