Research reveals the top 30 QS and PM firms on work won in the last year

Davis Langdon has topped the league of quantity surveyors based on the total value of projects won in the past year. With a massive 115 QSing contracts under its belt for the 12 months to 1 November 2005, the firm won £1.75bn worth of work in terms of project value during the period.

Among the key projects that helped the giant firm reach pole position were London Bridge Tower, for Sellar Property Group, and Birmingham City College.

Its nearest rival, according to the tables, is Gleeds, which racked up less than half the number of contracts, with 54 projects. The total value of Gleeds’ deals came to £397m.

Gardiner & Theobald actually won more contracts, with 61 deals. But its total value came in behind Gleeds, at £328m.

G&T topped the project manager rankings however, winning nine contracts worth a total of £560m during the past 12 months. The firm’s recent contract wins include the project manager role on Bridgewater Place, Leeds. The £80m mixed-used scheme aims to create the tallest building in the north of England.

Davis Langdon came in second in the PMs league, with 16 contracts totalling £385m.

A lesser known name, Day & Johnson, stole sixth place among the PMs, with four contracts adding up to £144m. The firm is project managing the mixed-used redevelopment of Hounslow town centre. The first phase of the scheme, due for completion in a year’s time, is worth £60m. A second £100m phase is due on site in 2007.
