The first of ten pilot projects proposed under Ken Livingstone’s Public Spaces Programme has been granted planning permission.

The £750,000 scheme will transform a car park on a brownfield site in Dalston, Hackney, into a regenerated place to eat, drink and browse market stalls, called Gillett Square.

The square is also intended to be a centre for arts and cultural activities, including live performances.

RLF is the QS on the project, Hawkins Brown is the masterplanning architect and the client is the Gillett Square Partnership, a consortium led by the London Borough of Hackney.
