The chairman of the Places for People Group has stepped down four months sooner than expected.
Sebert Cox's early departure comes after the association completed a review of its governance and, in April, appointed his successor, Zenna Atkins.

Cox had been involved with the association for more than 20 years.

He was one of the central figures in the boardroom dispute that saw the association put under supervision by the Housing Corporation in September. Board members claimed they had been voted off because they expressed concern at Cox's style of leadership. Cox, though, said it was because the board's skills mix had not been right.

Cox said this week: "Now is the right time to move on. The group has responded to many challenges during the past 20 years, none more so than the review of governance."

Places for People is waiting to hear how long it will remain under corporation supervision.
