On our front cover this month is an eye-catching project using System 10 coloured profile. The project (highlighted in our April PVC-U feature) is a ground-breaking private housing development in Gateshead called Staiths South Bank, which saw the teaming up of developers, George Wimpey City with the high profile designers, Wayne and Gerardine Hemingway, co-founders of the Red or Dead fashion label.

According to System 10's manufacturer, WHS Halo, we are seeing a marked growth in the use of both coloured foils and traditional window industry woodgrain foils. Mike Stevenson, Sales and Marketing Director for the Public Sector says: 'The drivers behind this trend are twofold. In the case of coloured foils, it is quite simply the case that more and more architects and specifiers are waking up to the fact that colours can be achieved in PVC-U. Hitherto, it has generally been perceived that PVC-U equals white.

'The specifier is setting and keeping pace with what's in vogue at the time and best suits the building type and design being applied. A timber effect may be the correct choice. If so, the specifier wants the superior benefits of PVC-U with a true timber appearance. Foils supply the perfect solution.'

System 10 offers an unparalleled range of foil colours. Quite literally hundreds of shades are available, and this broad selection, combined with the extremely wide choice of System 10 profiles available means no compromise for the client or specifier. Already specified for a large number of commercial projects such as office buildings, System 10 coloured foils are particularly popular for curtain walling applications for hospitals and schools.
