Jeremy Bailey – the 30-year-old director of Basingstoke-based Barons Security – is the first individual to be found guilty of working as the head of a security company without holding the necessary Security Industry Authority licence.

Bailey was interviewed by the Hampshire Constabulary in February on suspicion of running a security company without a licence. Appearing at Andover Magistrates Court at the end of July, he was found guilty and ordered to pay a £1,000 fine in addition to £385 in costs.

LINCOLNSHIRE POLICE HAVE MADE the first arrest in the country as part of a joint crackdown with the Security Industry Authority on unlicensed door staff.

Police officers took part in Operation Davit one Friday evening, checking whether or not door staff had a licence in virtually every licensed premises across the county.

The arrest was made at a pub in Skegness in connection with the supply of unlicensed door staff to licensed premises. The arrested 42-year-old man was subsequently released on police bail pending further enquiries.
