Court action takes time. The delay between filing papers, having a case heard and receiving a decision will often be six months or more. But mediation has no such lag – and takes into account the fact that all parties will probably have to live together in the future.
I don’t say there’s no place for legal action, but it’s always better if the solution comes from those involved rather than being handed down from on high.
