Remotely monitored CCTV specialist RemGuard Visual Management has reported impressive results from its training scheme for installers, with false alarm rates dropping in some cases by more than 80 per cent. The free half-day installer training sessions and site visits, run in conjunction with Optex, focus on best practice when applying the latest active and passive infrared detection devices.
Alan Collinge, director of RemGuard's Remote Video Response Centre, said the company has seen a major reduction in the number of false activations being generated on existing customer sites after installers had completed the course. An example was a reduction in wildlife alarms by 82.5 per cent and no visible cause alarms by 97 per cent on one site, based on a two week period before and after site visits were made to adjust the detectors.
"We are delighted with the response to the training by installers," Collinge said. "The positive impact after engineers have gone through the course and site visits has been extremely encouraging. There are enormous practical benefits for all parties involved - the RVRC, installers and end uses - if common pitfalls can be avoided at the earliest possible stage when positioning and configuring detectors."
ADT has run a successful seminar in Devon, bringing together leading members of the fire and security industry in an informative and educational event.
The seminar provided delegates with the latest information on legislation in the security and fire industry, networking opportunities with fellow industry professionals, and an opportunity to discuss the most recent developments in fire and security. ADT Plymouth branch manager and chairman of the Fire Industry Council Martin Harvey said: "The seminar was a huge success and we had great feedback from all 90 delegates."
