How heartening to hear/read these courageous words (cover story, CM, March 2004). This is one reason why I don’t want to work in industry and why I’ve chosen to be in teaching instead.

When I teach estimating, for instance, students ask me why I’m not out there earning a fortune, and I talk about corruption and I say “You don’t mind doing this, do you,” and this sea of angelic faces all look at me and nod their heads - but I try to inculcate my bit about honesty.
