The Housing Corporation’s London field director will become acting deputy chief executive of the organisation when Neil Hadden leaves to join Aldwyck Housing Association next month.

Steve Douglas – who joined the corporation from Asra Greater London Housing Association in 2001 – will take on the role on an interim basis until a permanent appointment is made. No date has been set for this.

Douglas will be responsible for the corporation’s £3.3bn, two-year development programme and investment strategy. He will continue in his London role.

The move was widely welcomed by the sector.

Dale Meredith, development director at Southern Housing Group, said: “Steve is very in touch with what is going on in London and across the country.

It is very good news.”
