Solar specialist firm Cool Power has provided a photovoltaic system for Tesco Ireland’s first Eco Store.
The store, located in Tramore, is the first supermarket in Ireland to be designed to the internationally recognized ‘Passiv Haus’ standard, and claims to use 45% less energy than a store of similar size.
The PV array is expected to generate 8,000kwh of electricity per annum, saving five tones of CO2 per year.
The Tramore outlet is the first of a number of Eco Stores planned by Tesco, using a range of designs and technologies aimed at reducing energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions.
