In control

Moeller Electric’s new range of ancillary installation products offers distribution solutions that can be configured easily to provide a wide range of control and automation functions.

Relays in the new product range include impulse-operated types, as well as standard types for general control applications. These are complemented by electronic staircase switches with an integral timing function.

For switching larger loads, Moeller offers installation contactors with ratings up to 63 A. These products feature a special magnet design that minimises switching noise and eliminates humming. The contactors also have especially low holding currents, minimising heat generation and power consumption.

Light intensity switches in the new range provide a convenient method for optimising the energy use of indoor and outdoor lighting systems. Supplied with a remote sensor, they can be set to operate at light levels from 2 to 10 000 lux.

Also featured are pushbuttons and multifunction LED indicators, isolating switches with ratings up to 250 A and compact transformers with ratings from 8 VA to 63 VA that are ideal for operating bells and for use in conjunction with rectifiers as the basis for simple power supplies.

All items are designed for easy integration with Moeller Electric protective devices.

Ocean waves

EnOcean’s range of electrical switches and controls offers a simple, fit anywhere solution. The action of operating the switch generates enough current to send a radio signal to a light or other appliance. EnOcean controls can be installed anywhere within a 100 m radius of the target unit, be moved at a whim and never require a change of battery.

The product line extends from light and dimmer switches to thermostats, hydrostats, light level sensors, door and window detectors. The non-mechanical devices harvest energy from changes in the ambient pressure and temperature.

EnOcean offers all the basic controls required for a commercial or domestic building, together with a range of gateways and interfaces allowing integration with LON, KNX/EIB, RS485 or Ethernet communications.

The range offers significant benefits to the installer including the complete elimination of the need for switch cabling. Other advantages include the freedom to place sensors on glass walls and wooden panels.

Dancing on the ceiling

Texecom’s new ceiling mount detector, the Prestige AM360 QD, is a digital quad PIR with active infrared anti-masking.

Omni-directional quad element detection provides 360° coverage and catch performance for any direction of intruder movement. The ceiling mounting allows for full zone coverage in commercial areas, negating detection barriers such as office partitions.

The detector has an 11 m maximum diameter volumetric range and incorporates triple end-of-line signalling for full Grade 3 level compliance, with ceiling tamper detection, a local self test function and a remote test facility also included as standard.

All models use Texecom’s optically enhanced active infrared technique combined with proprietary digital signal processing algorithms, which provides detection of anti-masking attempts.

High voltage

PSI has launched the latest version of PowerShield. The transient voltage surge arrestor is fully compliant and delivers a high level of protection for whole buildings.

PowerShield is deployed in parallel with the incoming power supply to eliminate the damaging effects of transients, surges and spikes that can be caused by external events such as local lightning strikes and utility capacitor switching.

The surge arrestor detects the first impulse of any excess voltage and safely diverts it away in less than one nanosecond, preventing expensive damage to electrical equipment

At 133 x 117 x 78 mm, the unit can be easily installed into any main power panel.
