Construction firm appointed preferred bidder by hub North Scotland
Contractor Miller Construction has been selected as preferred bidder for a £200m school building programme in Scotland.
The contractor has been selected for the design and build role by hub North Scotland, and the work will involve building a series of school from the west coast of Scotland to the Shetland Islands.
Projects under the contract will include the Wick Community Campus, Wick North Primary School, Inverness Royal Academy for The Highland Council, the Alford Community Campus for Aberdeenshire Council and the Anderson High School and halls of residence for the Shetland Islands Council.
Projects will be delivered through a joint venture company known as hub North Scotland Limited formed between the public and the private sectors, and Miller said it expected to reach financial close on the projects within 18 months.
Chris Webster, chief executive of Miller Construction, said he was “delighted” to have been selected as preferred partner on these education projects by hub North Scotland. ““Miller has a proven track record of delivering exceptional learning environments that support staff and teachers to engage and inspire future generations.
“We look forward to reaching financial close on these projects and to delivering these new schools that will serve their communities for many years to come.”
