EC Harris supports the consortium that may help make the Thames Gateway vision a reality
A radical vision for the Thames Gateway National Park can bring about urban growth as well as economic and social regeneration through sustainable communities. The concept that has been brewing for nearly 20 years may finally get off the ground, thanks to the consortium's realistic vision revealed today.
Graham Matthews of EC Harris said: "Our vision not only builds on the legacy of the 2012 Olympics, but delivers the Government's housing target with space to spare and offers the only credible answers to London's growth needs."
The consortium, lead by Sir Terry Farrel of Farrell, was joined by EC Harris, the Bank of Scotland, Battle McCarthy, Experian, Farrells, Future Foundation and Scott Wilson to deliver the first public showing at HBOS Auditorium in London today.
Farrel said: "This is not just a vision for the Thames Gateway, it is the only vision for the area. The development of a National park for the Tames Gateway has so many advantages for London and the surrounding area in economic, social and environmental terms. It will create a place where the ‘bluefield' and ‘greenfield' will combine to create a place where people can live, work and enjoy life to the full."
The meeting will be followed by a parliamentary briefing sponsored by MP, Frank Dobson on July 4 at Portcullis House to seek support by the Government.
