Electrical contractor T Clarke has announced a 4% drop in revenue and a 23% dip in profit before tax in its preliminary results for the year ended 31 December 2006.

Turnover was down to £186 million (2005: £194 m) while profit before tax fell to £6.57 million (2005: £8.55 m). Nevertheless, a confident T Clarke raised the final dividend to 7.35p (2005: 7p).

“This has been a challenging year for the group,” said chief executive Pat Stanborough. “However, the future looks bright. Our major clients are busy and we have secured a very strong order book worth over £200 million. Many of our end-users are planning major expansion and investment programmes, which bodes well for the continued improvements in our markets.”

The group’s London operations improved operating margins but there were disappointments in Scotland, Derby and East Anglia. Senior management changes have taken place and improved financial controls implemented.

Barry DeFalco was appointed managing director for UK regions in December 2006 with Mark Lawrence taking over as managing director for London operations. Mike Crowder is executive director. Pat Stanborough retires in October 2008.
